Synopsis
Samia tells the inspiring story of Somali athlete Samia Yusuf Omar, who pursues her dream of participating in the Olympic Games despite difficult circumstances and societal restrictions. Growing up in Mogadishu as a talented runner, Samia is supported by her father (Fatah Ghedi) in her athletic ambitions, while her mother is concerned about the dangers women face in sports. Despite the ban on women participating in sports, Samia continues to train in secret and bravely faces the challenges of her environment. Based on true events, the film offers a powerful portrait of a young woman who fights for her freedom and dreams against all odds.
